How to use structured data well

Structured data helps search engines understand the entities on your page. Use it only to describe content that is visible to visitors, keep every value accurate, and update it when your details change. Marking up information that people cannot see on the page can lead to a manual action.

For local businesses, make sure the name, address and phone number match your Google Business Profile exactly. For articles, include a real author and publication date. For FAQ pages, add only questions that genuinely appear on the page.

Frequently asked questions

What is schema markup?

Schema markup is structured data, usually written as JSON-LD, that tells search engines what a page is about: a business, an article, a product or a list of FAQs.

Where do I paste the generated code?

Paste the full script block inside the head or body of the page it describes. In WordPress you can use a header and footer plugin or your theme's custom code area.

Will schema guarantee rich results?

No. Schema makes a page eligible, but Google decides whether to show rich results. Always test the output with Google's Rich Results Test.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. The generator runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to our server.
